Your Body Isn't Broken

It has been organizing around the life you have lived.

Every breath, posture, movement, emotion, and pattern tells part of the story of how your body has learned to meet life.

My work helps you become curious about that organization so new possibilities can emerge through breath, movement, awareness, and relationship.

You've Been Working Hard

You tried the therapy.
The strengthening.
The stretching.

You stayed disciplined.

And yet the pain lingers.
Or shifts.
Or returns under stress.

This isn’t a failure of effort.
It’s a matter of state.

WHAT MOST APPROACHES MISS

When the nervous system lives in chronic  bracing, the body adapts around protection.

Breath shortens.
Muscles hold.
Tension stabilizes.

Awareness decreases.

Over time, these patterns can become normal. Even when they create pain, exhaustion, or disconnection.

How Your Body Learned to Protect You

The body adapts around lived experience.

Breath changes.

Muscles hold.

Tension stabilizes.

Patterns become familiar.

If the underlying state does not change, the patterns often return.

HOW WE WORK TOGETHER

Private one-on-one sessions integrate:

  • Nervous system regulation

  • Embodied movement and awareness

  • Breath and postural patterns

  • Somatic integration

  • Clinical structural understanding

  • Emotional pattern awareness

We work at the level beneath symptoms: where physiology, lived experience, movement patterns, and nervous system organization meet.

As protection softens, the body can reorganize in a more sustainable way.

The Embodied Reintegration Roadmap

Healing rarely happens in a straight line.

Most people move through recognizable phases as they begin reconnecting with themselves through the body. This guide offers an introduction to the process of moving from protection towartds greater ease, clarity, and trust in your own inner wisdom.

Not as a formula.

As a map.

A way of recognizing where you are and what may be possible.

This roadmap isn't about fixing yourself. It's about learning to understand the remarkable intelligence that's already there.

ABOUT

ABOUT ME

For more than 30 years, I have worked with the human body.

My foundation is clinical. I am a licensed physical therapist, and certified in Pilates, with training  in craniosacral therapy, myofascial release, Manual Lymph Drainage, yoga, and somatic disciplines. My work integrates biomechanics, breath mechanics, and nervous system regulation.

For decades, I helped people recover from injury, surgery, and chronic pain.

Yet a pattern emerged.

Many were doing everything correctly — disciplined, compliant, strong — and their pain persisted.

That pattern led me to ask different questions.

WHERE STRUCTURE MEETS STATE

Persistent pain is rarely structural alone.

The nervous system shapes muscle tone, breath rhythm, and fascial tension. When the system remains in protection, the body organizes around it.

Without addressing state, structural work often reaches a ceiling.

Understanding this reshaped my practice.

MY TURNING POINT

This shift was personal as well as professional.

I know discipline. I know pushing through. I know believing more effort will solve it.

What I didn’t see was how much bracing had become normal.

When I began working at the level of nervous system state — through heart-centered breath and embodied awareness — something returned.

Not through force.
Through coherence.

THE WORK TODAY

Today, I work primarily one-on-one with people  whose pain has not resolved through structural approaches alone.

My practice integrates:

• Clinical biomechanics
• Autonomic regulation
• Heart coherence and breath
• Somatic integration
• Emotional pattern recognition

This work is precise. Individualized. Grounded in physiology.

And deeply human.

When protection softens, pain patterns change.
And when pain patterns change, people move and live differently.

"My relationship with Heather began in her capacity as a physical therapist several years ago.  I was struggling with severe back pain issues, and working with Heather made all the difference in postponing what was eventually major spine surgery.   Heather became my lifeline during recovery.  She understood not only the pain and physical challenge I was facing, but the connection between mind and body.  My healing journey was emotional as well as physical. Having Heather’s support has been life-changing. "
